AVILLA – Harper Funeral Homes, located in Avilla and Albion, will celebrate their second year in August of this year. Avilla native and current resident Josh Harper purchased the funeral homes in August of 2015 and immediately began a makeover of the business, including remodeling the interior of both Avilla and Albion Chapels, and introducing the business as a community partner. “I grew up in Avilla and consider it an honor to care for our community said Harper of the funeral home purchase. “Albion has become my adopted hometown and I have had the privilege of getting to know many people who I consider like family.”
Harper has seen to changes and updates in offerings to families suffering loss. “Each person has a story to tell and I consider it my calling to help tell that story in a way that represents the wishes of the family,” said Harper. “I want people to think of us as a resource and a trusted friend during difficult times, but also as a community partner,” said Harper, referring to the funeral home being involved in various community events and sponsoring worthy causes. Recently, the funeral home has helped sponsor the Avilla Freedom Festival, Chain O’ Lakes Festival, various 4H clubs, and high school sports teams.
