STEUBEN COUNTY -The Indiana State Police continued the investigation of possible shots fired at a passing motorist on the Indiana Toll Road in Steuben County. This incident happened on September 23, 2017. The investigation has revealed that the damage was not caused by a bullet but by a hard projectile such as a rock or piece of concrete.
Items dropped or thrown from a highway overpass can cause serious injuries or death. The public is reminded that if they see suspicious activity on any highway overpass to call 911.
September 30, 2017 – Possible Shots Fired at Passing Motorist on Indiana Toll Road in Steuben County
STEUBEN COUNTY – On September 23, 2017, just after midnight, the Indiana State Police Toll Road post was called for possible shots being fired at a passing motorist from an overpass near the 146.5 mile marker. This area is just east of the exit for I69 and Angola.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Andrew Baldwin showed that a semi was being driven eastbound near the 146.5 mile marker when the driver reported seeing two flashes of light from an overpass before his windshield shattered. Baldwin reported that a projectile passed through the windshield of the semi and continued out the back window.
