Scouts Meet Facilitator Dog Wanda

AVILLA – Cub Scout Pack 3115 and Boy Scout Troop 115 had a guest at their recent meeting. East Noble teacher Ryan Pepple brought his working partner Wanda to the meeting to help the scouts, their leaders and parents to better understand the needs of fellow class mates with handicaps.

Cub Master, Bryan Cass, has a goal of getting the scouts to better understand handicap needs. Ryan works with Wanda to help the handicapped youth interact, communicate and exercise. Wanda can play games, get the students to get out of their wheelchairs to exercise or just let the students pet her. Wanda showed the scouts some of her abilities and then they had fun petting her.

The scouts are chartered to Avilla United Methodist Church and meet on Thursday evenings at the church.
