LAGRANGE COUNTY – A traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road lead to the arrest of an Ohio man for operating while intoxicated and cocaine charges during the early morning hours on June 6, 2018.
Around 1:10 a.m., Trooper Andrew Baldwin stopped a black Acura for several moving vio-lations as it traveled eastbound on the Indiana Toll Road near the 117-mile marker. This is approximately four miles west of the Howe/LaGrange exit.
While talking to the driver, 26-year-old Franciso Gallardo Cortes, of Cleveland, OH, Baldwin purportedly became suspicious that Gallardo Cortes was intoxicated. Gallardo Cortes re-portedly was found to be one and a half times the legal limit of .08% B.A.C.
Further investigation resulted in the discovery of approximately 63 grams of suspected cocaine, digital scales and $564.00 United States Currency in the Acura.
Gallardo Cortes was arrested on preliminary charges of Dealing Cocaine, Level 2 Felony, Operating While Intoxicated-Endangerment, A-Misdemeanor, Operating While Intoxicated C-Misdemeanor, and Operator Never Licensed, C-Misdemeanor. Gallardo Cortes was taken to the LaGrange County Jail.
