INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Conservative Alliance for Energy (ICAE) today commended Gov. Eric Holcomb for signing a proclamation declaring this week Clean Energy Week across the state.
“It’s wonderful to have a Governor who recognizes the important role clean energy plays in our state’s economy,” said ICAE executive director Jared Noblitt. “Clean energy jobs are among the fastest-growing in the nation—and here in Indiana.”
Recent employment data compiled by Indiana Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) shows the growth of advanced energy jobs at four times the state’s overall job growth in 2018—with a 4 percent increase expected by employers for 2019.
National Clean Energy Week, a project of Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions, began in 2017 to advance support of our nation’s energy sector through new methods of market development, policy change and technological innovation.
“Indiana is known for our low taxes and strong communities. As our elected officials look toward the future, they have an opportunity to grow the clean energy economy and further burnish our reputation as an innovative, forward-thinking Midwestern powerhouse,” Noblitt said.
The text of the Governor’s proclamation reads:
To All To Whom These Presents May Come, Greetings:
WHEREAS, across Indiana, clean and readily abundant forms of energy are powering more homes and businesses than ever before; and
WHEREAS, clean energy is part of America’s energy future; and
WHEREAS, the clean energy sector is a growing part of the economy and has been a key driver of economic growth in Indiana in recent years, with over 86,000 clean energy jobs in the Hoosier State; and
WHEREAS, we must harness the power of Indiana entrepreneurs and small businesses to ensure government collaboration to assert American energy leadership and dominance in the global marketplace and assure low-cost reliable energy here at home;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Eric J. Holcomb, Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby proclaim September 23-27, 2019, as CLEAN ENERGY WEEK.
The Indiana Conservative Alliance for Energy was founded by conservatives who believe in a genuine “all of the above” approach to Indiana’s energy policy—an approach that values the energy that built our great state and transitions to the clean, renewable and efficient energy that’s powering our future.
